HAVE SUDDEN CRAVING FOR NASI KANDAR. Not any one will do OK. The one called LINE CLEAR in Pulau Pinang. OOOOhhhhh culinary heaven. It would take a fair amount of time but I'd be there by tea-time if I hurried... Next time you're in Penang, look the place up. It's in a lane before Chowrasta Market. Just ask around, i think it's a regional icon. I bumped into it one fine day, years ago, when i read an article about it in NST, heaping praises and all. So i turned to my pal (who's not my pal anymore, you cheating son-of-a-gun) and said, LET'S GO HERE! and off we went and proceeded to stuff our faces. Wow. U know what. don't think it was the food (how different can nasi kandar get?) so it was probably more the ambience, the service and all that jazz. There's no piped-in music. Just the Tamil channel on radio perhaps? Try it out.

IN KL? the good one must be near Central Market, called Yusoof & Something or other. Not the shops facing Central Market, but behind, along the side-lane (Does good food in Malaysia get produced only along these lanes?). You'll pass the place if you walk from Central Market to Kotaraya. YUMMY! Must be the ambience or something again, cos i'm sure all the Nasi Kandar shops around there are related entities. Must go get breakfast soon.
