Dateline: Beaufort, Sabah

I've just found a lepak place in beaufort, it's called Mok Cafe and of course they've got wi-fi and decent drinks (bubble tea which is hot over here in sabah.)

yesterday was a busy day... drove to this place called Tenom which is famous for its coffee, of which i have year-round stock of. wanna try? give me a call : ) one reason for the trip was to visit the factory and see if they wanted to do business but they seem somewhat reluctant. ah well. i'm quite happy to have been able to get adequate supply of the superb 3-in-1 kopi sachets.

if you ask me, its quality blows away ALL the competition in the peninsular. i kid you not. Nescafe, Old Town, Kopi Cap Kapal, whatever, they all pale in comparison. who knows, you might be able to get it from the supermarkets later on in the year...

Tenom is nestled among mountains and getting there involves some driving up steep hills. it was first-gear going up, while going down was like playing Need for Speed, no brakes all the way heheheh. The view along the way is beautiful, with gentle valleys framed by majestic mountains in the background, and mist like cotton wool amongst it all. postcard-perfect, i tell you! Photos will be up in my facebook page later on...

now it's back to the PS2 for more havoc!

Dateline: Beaufort, Sabah

Miss Chris and i finally arrived in beaufort yesterday, home sweet home for her. Agenda to date as follows:

1. Eat
2. Sleep
3. PS2

(showering optional)

Beaufort, compared to KK, is blistering hot and dry. i wouldn't mind some afternoon showers to cool things off. i'm afraid, given our water authority's ineffiency, it could lead to shortages...

oh yes it's christmas, ain't it. really hard time keeping eyes open til midnight. had fun watching the sisters-in-law open their pressies ( new apparel for everyone! yayyy! ), then it was quickly to bed for some sweet dreams : )

morning consisted of the service at St Valentine's Church in beaufort (don't you just love the name). i think the priest was amazed at the turnout, with people spilling out of the premises. must be the holy spirit.

what i love about this christmas: doing battle on the playstation.

all i want for new year is a playstation, playstation, playstationnnnn... (now everyone sing along).

Dateline: Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Here i am in merry ole KK for the umpteenth time. not complaining since it's one of the nicest places in Malaysia; it's got everything within easy reach, whatever your fancy may be, whether it is the islands, the beaches, the mountains, or the forest reserves.

in retrospect, let me put it in a nutshell:

1. grilled seafood at the filipino market - prices have increased some but the food still tastes good and the environment's the same great smoky boisterous lively experience.

2. nights at the Loft, Waterfront KK, where my old buddy edward is working at, from the AMP days. weekdays are quiet and perfect for catching up over a cuppa...

3. beef noodles at Restoran Kinabalu - if you're in KK city centre and need food within walking distance of your hotel, try this place out, it's just off Gaya Street, i'm not sure of the specifics but it's there... somewhere...

4. walking about Centrepoint Plaza, which seems as popular as ever after a quarter-century. it's cleverly part-sungei wang, part-pertama complex, part-mid-valley. love it. over this holiday season, it was FULL of west malaysians, just when i was wanting to get away from 'em all... !

all this makes for tiring days and blistered feet at night :p

here i am getting ready for the trip...

firstly, i would like to state that packing is a pain in the arse. usually miss chris does it all for me (yes i am a spoiled kinda guy) but today... having to decide what goes in and what does not... so, being a Male, i just stuffed everything into two bags. suffice to say, i could migrate and never come back, and i would have all the essentials with me :p

starting to pack and what not about midnight. of course i would be side-tracked by an episode of Reaper. and not to mention the crazy partying Africans - hey come on, it's 3 in the morning - whose revelry was broken up later by the police (thank you nameless Cop - that's his name in my phonebook, will send a thank-you sms later).

then there's the cleaning, the wiping, the mopping so as to ensure a clean(er) home when we return. the fish too have to be fed, thank god for the holiday fish food block. OH SHIT i forgot about the plant and i left all the water in there. darn i hope it won't turn into mozzie breeding factory.

all done by 5.30am. yahooo! kota kinabalu here i come.

10:30am - HEY! isn't my flight scheduled to take off at 10.20. okay, so they have a technical problem. i'll wait, since i wouldn't want any problems cropping up at 37,000 feet. no sirreeee, no wayyyyy.

airports should have video-game machines or at least complimentary PS2 consoles for use by bored and delayed customers...

... and so sunday and monday passed by oh-so-quickly. it didn't help that today was one of those days which rained non-stop from the time i woke up. definitely won't help the landslides and other natural calamities that befall our nation so very often. but i think i'll bitch about things when i get warmed up, alright. when i turn on the left-wing militant side of me hehhehe.

but then what's the use of so much talk and no action. sigh.

in terms of doing, i suppose my wall-painting skills has improved somewhat... hey chris don't you just love the 'Sashay Red' walls now ; )

ok la time to say goodnite... back to watching 'Reaper' : )

time to update the links here... i click on many and they don't exist anymore. i suppose we've all become the Facebook generation, eh. more disturbingly, one particular link has been re-directed to some pervy porn site. ewwwww.

things to do on sunday:

1. sleep (6.30am and still awake. must've been the friggin' green tea. 10% caffeine of regular tea and i'm like this?!!! tiuuuuu!!!)

2. breakfast and some exercise. swimming pool sounds mighty appealing. don't rain, sunny day please.

3. house painting. half the wall in 'sashay red' is just odd :p

4. Low Yat / Sg Wang for some leisurely sunday shopping. i'm targeting new 2.1 pc speakers so i can blast some Soulfly, who've just become the band of the week. Last week it was The Ting Tings, who're simply excellent. btw they're performing in singapore at 85 SGD, so i suppose i'll have to give that a miss :p

5. dinner and shisha at hartamas square? this has yet to be decided upon...

a fun relaxing long weekend it will be.... : )
