Dateline: Beaufort, Sabah

Miss Chris and i finally arrived in beaufort yesterday, home sweet home for her. Agenda to date as follows:

1. Eat
2. Sleep
3. PS2

(showering optional)

Beaufort, compared to KK, is blistering hot and dry. i wouldn't mind some afternoon showers to cool things off. i'm afraid, given our water authority's ineffiency, it could lead to shortages...

oh yes it's christmas, ain't it. really hard time keeping eyes open til midnight. had fun watching the sisters-in-law open their pressies ( new apparel for everyone! yayyy! ), then it was quickly to bed for some sweet dreams : )

morning consisted of the service at St Valentine's Church in beaufort (don't you just love the name). i think the priest was amazed at the turnout, with people spilling out of the premises. must be the holy spirit.

what i love about this christmas: doing battle on the playstation.

all i want for new year is a playstation, playstation, playstationnnnn... (now everyone sing along).

Dateline: Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Here i am in merry ole KK for the umpteenth time. not complaining since it's one of the nicest places in Malaysia; it's got everything within easy reach, whatever your fancy may be, whether it is the islands, the beaches, the mountains, or the forest reserves.

in retrospect, let me put it in a nutshell:

1. grilled seafood at the filipino market - prices have increased some but the food still tastes good and the environment's the same great smoky boisterous lively experience.

2. nights at the Loft, Waterfront KK, where my old buddy edward is working at, from the AMP days. weekdays are quiet and perfect for catching up over a cuppa...

3. beef noodles at Restoran Kinabalu - if you're in KK city centre and need food within walking distance of your hotel, try this place out, it's just off Gaya Street, i'm not sure of the specifics but it's there... somewhere...

4. walking about Centrepoint Plaza, which seems as popular as ever after a quarter-century. it's cleverly part-sungei wang, part-pertama complex, part-mid-valley. love it. over this holiday season, it was FULL of west malaysians, just when i was wanting to get away from 'em all... !

all this makes for tiring days and blistered feet at night :p

here i am getting ready for the trip...

firstly, i would like to state that packing is a pain in the arse. usually miss chris does it all for me (yes i am a spoiled kinda guy) but today... having to decide what goes in and what does not... so, being a Male, i just stuffed everything into two bags. suffice to say, i could migrate and never come back, and i would have all the essentials with me :p

starting to pack and what not about midnight. of course i would be side-tracked by an episode of Reaper. and not to mention the crazy partying Africans - hey come on, it's 3 in the morning - whose revelry was broken up later by the police (thank you nameless Cop - that's his name in my phonebook, will send a thank-you sms later).

then there's the cleaning, the wiping, the mopping so as to ensure a clean(er) home when we return. the fish too have to be fed, thank god for the holiday fish food block. OH SHIT i forgot about the plant and i left all the water in there. darn i hope it won't turn into mozzie breeding factory.

all done by 5.30am. yahooo! kota kinabalu here i come.

10:30am - HEY! isn't my flight scheduled to take off at 10.20. okay, so they have a technical problem. i'll wait, since i wouldn't want any problems cropping up at 37,000 feet. no sirreeee, no wayyyyy.

airports should have video-game machines or at least complimentary PS2 consoles for use by bored and delayed customers...
